R. Kelly Sentenced , to 30 Years in Prison for Sex Trafficking .
On June 29, disgraced
R&B singer R. Kelly was
sentenced to 30 years in prison. .
The decision met the request of prosecutors who had sought for Kelly to receive over 25 years behind bars. .
Last September, Kelly was convicted on nine counts, including one charge of racketeering and eight counts of violations of the Mann Act. .
CNN reports that the charges stemmed from using his fame for years to lure victims he later sexually abused.
According to prosecutors, Kelly used a , "network of people at his disposal to target girls, boys and young women for his own sexual gratification.".
The court reportedly heard impact statements
from seven of Kelly's victims prior to sentencing.
