Co-founder of fact checking website AltNews, Mohammad Zubair was arrested by Delhi police for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. The complaint was filed by a twitter user objecting to Zubair’s 2018 tweet and accused him of ‘insulting the god of a particular religion’. Soon after Zubair’s arrest there was a storm on twitter with opposition leaders and journalists rallying behind him. Delhi Police is likely to produce Zubair in court tomorrow and seek further custody for questioning.
