Abortion_ Life at Conception or at Birth - William Branham Theology
  • 2 years ago
Last week, the 1973 Supreme Court Decision on abortion, Roe Versus Wade, was overturned in the United States. The argument as to whether life begins at conception or at birth, a battle that continued decades after the original decision, just became more heated as people in favor of allowing abortion lost ground gained in the 1970s. People against abortion claim victory, while others wonder how a decision can so easily be reversed. Most members of Branham’s cult of personality are against abortion and base their position on Branham’s 1954 doctrine that life begins before birth.

In 1961, however, William Branham took the same path that the Supreme Court chose, overturning his position. In January of 1961 when answering a question on the Questions and Answers sermon, Branham changed his earlier decision to claim that life begins as soon as the child is born. This change was a fundamental part of his Manifested Sons of God theology; Branham taught that a “theophany” entered the body.

By 1964, Branham was far more open about the change. In the 1964 questions and answers session, Questions and Answers #3, Branham rebuked those who claim the baby is alive in the womb. He says, “You say, “Oh, it’s alive!” No, it isn’t! That’s little nerves jerking, muscles. See? The baby hasn’t received life till it’s born.
