SA denies accusations of pork barrelling over $84 million in sports grants
  • 2 years ago
The new South Australian government is facing accusations of pork barrelling after it handed out more than 80 million dollars to sporting clubs in this month's budget. An ABC analysis of the grants shows almost all of the money is being spent in seats Labor already held or seized from the Liberal and independents as the party swept to victory on March 19. The Premier Peter Malinauskas denies any wrongdoing saying the government is simply making good on its election promises. But it comes amid a broader national conservation about the ethics of the practice.
