Lord Jagannath was bathed in Puri on Tuesday on the occasion of the full moon of Jyeshtha month, in which thousands of devotees took part. The tradition of bathing the Lord has been going on since the inception of the temple. The ancient idols are kept outside the sanctum sanctorum on this day. Priests and devotees bathe the idols of God by mixing Ganges water in the water of the temple. After this the idol is again taken to the sanctum sanctorum and installed.

ज्येष्ठ मास की पूर्णिमा के मौके पर मंगलवार को Puri में Lord Jagannath को स्नान कराया गया, मनाया गया है, जिसमें हजारों भक्तों में हिस्सा लिया।भगवान को स्नान कराने की परंपरा मंदिर के स्थापना समय से चली आ रही है। इस दिन प्राचीन प्रतिमाओं को गर्भगृह से बाहर रखा जाता है। पुजारी व भक्तजन भगवान की प्रतिमाओं को मंदिर की बावली के पानी में गंगाजल मिलाकर स्नान कराते हैं। इसके बाद प्रतिमा को फिर से गर्भगृह ले जाकर स्थापित कर दिया जाता है
