Another title has now been added to the profile of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal. Apart from being the Chief Minister, she will also be called the chancellor of the state-run universities. Till now the post of university chancellor was held by the governor of the state. The University Law Amendment Bill was brought in the Bengal Legislative Assembly regarding this. On which voting took place after the debate, the majority remained in favor of the ruling party TMC.

पश्चिम बंगाल में मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी के प्रोफाइल में अब एक और पदवी जुड़ गई है। वो अबसे मुख्यमंत्री होने के अलावा राज्य में संचालित विश्वविद्यालयों की चांसलर भी कहलाएंगी। अब तक यूनिवर्सिटी चांसलर की पदवी राज्य के राज्यपाल के पास हुआ करती थी। इसे लेकर बंगाल विधानसभा में विश्वविद्यालय कानून संशोधन बिल लाया गया था। जिस पर बहस के बाद वोटिंग हुई, तो बहुमत सत्तारूढ़ दल टीएमसी के पक्ष में रहा।
