West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has written to several opposition parties across the country, asking them to attend a 15 June meeting in New Delhi to decide on a common candidate for the upcoming presidential polls.

This comes at a time when the Congress has already been reaching out to various parties to ascertain whether they are in favour of fielding a joint contender against the ruling National Democratic Alliance’s nominee.
