Police have detained Mohammad Javed alias Javed Pump after identifying him as the main conspirator in the violent protests that broke out on Friday in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. The protests broke out over former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma's remark on the Prophet Muhammad.

Stones were hurled as clashes broke out between police and protesters in the Atala area of Prayagraj over the controversial remarks of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal.

Mohammad Javed, who is accused of conspiracy to spread violence, is now in police custody.

Meanwhile, SSP Ajay Kumar said, "So far, the name of any political person has not been directly revealed. The names of some people from AIMIM have come to the fore. Interrogation and investigation are going on."
