The Platinum Jubilee celebrations for UK’s Queen Elizabeth II have begun. Queen Elizabeth II becomes the first in British history to rule for 70 years. A message by the Queen read, “I continue to be inspired by the goodwill shown to me, and hope that the coming days will provide an opportunity to reflect on all that has been achieved during the last seventy years.” A new portrait of the Queen has also been released. The Queen at the age of 25 acceded to the throne on February 6, 1952, reported CNN. For the celebrations, many events have taken place around the UK this year.
