On May 24, an 18-year-old gunman
fatally shot 19 children and two adults
at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
CNN reports that the shooter, identified
by Texas officials as Salvador Ramos,
was killed by law enforcement officers at the scene.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety
Sgt. Erick Estrada, Ramos shot his grandmother
before crashing a vehicle near the school. .

The suspect did crash near a ditch
nearby the school. That’s where he exited
his vehicle with what I believe was a rifle
and that’s when he attempted
to enter the school where he was

Estrada told CNN that Ramos
was equipped with body armor,
a backpack and a rifle. .
A spokesman for Uvalde Memorial
Hospital said that 13 children and a man
in his 40s were being treated for injuries.
President Joe Biden ordered U.S. flags to be
flown at half-staff until May 28 to honor
victims of this “senseless act of violence.”.

shooting in Texas marks at least
the 30th school shooting of 2022.
The other shootings have resulted in
at least 10 deaths and 51 injuries.
