The Congress party has suffered a major setback, senior leader and former Union Minister Kapil Sibal has resigned from the Congress, after which Kapil Sibal reached Lucknow on Wednesday and filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections on a SP ticket. He disclosed that he had resigned from the Congress, he had resigned from the Congress on 16 May itself. After which Sibal has filed his nomination for Rajya Sabha on SP ticket on Wednesday, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Ram Gopal Yadav were also present during Sibal's nomination.

Congress पार्टी को एक बड़ा झटका लगा है, वरिष्ठ नेता और पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री Kapil Sibal ने कांग्रेस से इस्तीफा दे दिया है, जिसके बाद कपिल सिब्बल बुधवार को लखनऊ पहुंचे और सपा के टिकट पर राज्यसभा चुनाव के लिए नामांकन दाखिल कर दिया है,इस दौरान उन्होंने खुलासा किया कि वो कांग्रेस से इस्तीफा दे चुके हैं , उन्होंने 16 मई को ही कांग्रेस से त्यागपत्र दे दिया था. जिसके बाद सिब्बल ने बुधवार को सपा के टिकट पर राज्यसभा के लिए नामांकन भरा है, सिब्बल के नामांकन के दौरान सपा प्रमुख अखिलेश यादव और रामगोपाल यादव भी मौजूद रहे.
