Canada bans Huawei and ZTE 5G equipment, orders removal by 2024
  • 2 years ago
Canada banned the use of 5G equipment from Chinese telecoms companies Huawei and ZTE, citing national security reasons. The move marks a unified decision by the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing alliance to ban Chinese 5G. Beijing quickly criticised the move, accusing Canada of working with the US to suppress Chinese businesses. Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said China would take all measures to safeguard the interests of Chinese firms.
