Speaking about the report of the discovery of 'Shivalinga' in the Gyanvapi Masjid survey, Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust Council President Nagendra Pandey said that there is a mention in the Puranas about the 'Jyotirlinga' established in the Gyanvapi temple. The Puranas clearly describe the Gyanvapi temple and a 'Jyotirlinga' situated there. There is no doubt that the present Gyanvapi Mosque was a part of the temple complex mentioned in our scriptures.

ज्ञानवापी मस्जिद सर्वेक्षण में 'शिवलिंग' की खोज की रिपोर्ट के बारे में बोलते हुए, श्री काशी विश्वनाथ मंदिर ट्रस्ट परिषद के अध्यक्ष नागेंद्र पांडे ने कहा कि ज्ञानवापी मंदिर में स्थापित 'ज्योतिर्लिंग' के बारे में पुराणों में उल्लेख है. पुराणों में स्पष्ट रूप से ज्ञानवापी मंदिर और वहां स्थित एक 'ज्योतिर्लिंग' के बारे में वर्णन किया गया है. इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है कि वर्तमान ज्ञानवापी मस्जिद हमारे शास्त्रों में वर्णित मंदिर परिसर का एक हिस्सा था.
