South-West Monsoon Reaches Andaman & Nicobar Islands, IMD Warns Of Heavy Rains In Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal

On May 16, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the Southwest monsoon has arrived over the Andaman and Nicobar islands. The Southwest monsoon winds have arrived six day ahead of its schedule, reported NDTV. The weather department said that the Andaman and Nicobar islands and adjoining areas have been experiencing rainfall due to strengthening south-westerly winds in the lower tropospheric levels. On May 16, the weather department warned of heavy to very rainfall over Assam and neighbouring Meghalaya in next two days, reported The Times Of India.
