'Newsweek' reports that the Chicago mayor took to Twitter on May 9 in response to speculation that the Supreme Court intends to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Lightfoot thinks that if the landmark
1973 ruling does get thrown out, .
conservatives will target the LGBTQ+ community next, such as Obergefell v. Hodges, which
legalized same-sex marriage in 2015.

Lightfoot also announced on May 9 that the city
will give $500,000 to the Chicago Department
of Public Health to help provide abortion access. .
