Queen Elizabeth II was due to end her short public hiatus as her scheduled appearance at the State Opening of Parliament would have been the first since she attended a memorial service for her late husband Prince Philip on March 29 at Westminster Abbey. However, Buckingham Palace announced on Monday that the 96-year-old monarch had "reluctantly" opted to pull out of the State Opening of Parliament.
