திமுக ஆட்சிக்கு வந்தபோதெல்லாம் பெட்ரோல் மீதான வாட் வரி குறைக்கப்பட்டதுதான் வரலாறு என தமிழக நிதியமைச்சர் பழனிவேல் தியாகராஜன் தெரிவித்திருக்கிறார். பாஜக ஆட்சிக்கு வந்த பிறகு பெட்ரோல், டீசல் மீதான வரி 200 சதவீதத்துக்கும் மேல் அதிகரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. திமுக அரசு பொறுப்பேற்ற பிறகு கடந்த ஆகஸ்ட் மாதம் பெட்ரோல் மீதான வாட் வரி குறைக்கப்பட்டது என்றார்.

Finance Minister PTR Thiyagarajan has said We have repeatedly urged the Union Government to reduce the cesses and surcharges being levied and merge them with the basic tax rates so that States get their rightful share from the proceeds of the Union taxes.
