Amid a raging debate over the use of loudspeakers in mosques, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on Tuesday said that their workers will perform ‘maha aarti' at their local temples across the state, on May 3, on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.
The 'aarti' will be performed using loudspeakers, said MNS leader Nitin Sardesai.
MNS chief Raj Thackeray has demanded that loudspeakers on mosques be removed by May 3 and warned that they will play 'Hanuman Chalisa' on loudspeakers outside mosques.
On Monday, the Maharashtra Home Department said that the use of loudspeakers at religious sites in the state will be allowed only with due permission.
