The historic temple in Belur, Karnataka, Chennakeshava Temple, began the Rathotsava or chariot festival with the recital of Quran, according to the traditions. This comes in the midst of the communal poilitics going on in the state. The annual ceremony which is held for two days was criticized by the Hindu groups as they sought the discontinuation of the ritual which they believe is against their religion.
