Lok Sabha passed the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Bill on April 4. The Bill seeks to collect biometric details from convicts, those accused of crimes or detained by police. Several opposition MPs flagged serious concerns over the new Bill including its possible misuse. Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed some of the concerns in his reply to the debate in the Lok Sabha.
