Assam to withdraw AFSPA from 60% of territory from April 1: CM Himanta Biswa

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state will withdraw Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from 60 per cent of its territory.“Assam will withdraw AFSPA completely from midnight April 1, except in nine districts and one subdivision,” said Sarma while addressing the press. His statement came after the Centre decided to reduce disturbed areas under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in the states of Nagaland, Assam, and Manipur after decades.
