Consider This: Prisons (Part 1) - Pandemic Pressures, Urgent Reforms
  • 2 tahun lalu
As of December 2020, a total of 1,160 prisoners plus 125 prison staff & family members had tested positive for Covid-19 nationwide. By the first week of 2021, new prison clusters sometimes accounted for up to 20% of daily new cases. This raises the issue of prisons & other detention centres as incubators of infectious diseases, particularly Covid-19 -- highlighting once again, that “no one is safe until everyone is safe”. Will Parliament deliver urgent reforms? Melisa Idris and Sharaad Kuttan speak to Nurul Izzah Anwar, MP for Permatang Pauh, and member, All Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia for the Reform of All Places of Detention.
