Detectives investigating the of a man whose body lay undiscovered in a freezer for several years in London are appealing for anyone who knew him to come forward.

Roy Bigg went missing in February 2012 and his body was found last October in a freezer in the basement of a building that was formerly a wine bar in Forest Gate.

Police said they believed he was around 70 years old when he .

His remains were found by builders in the basement of the disused Simpson's Wine Bar in Romford Road, with his body identified through dental records.

A post-mortem examination was inconclusive and Metropolitan Police detectives have yet to establish when he was last seen.



The force are now calling on members of the public to contact them with information about Mr Bigg.

Detective chief inspector Kelly Allen, of the Met's Specialist Crime Command, said: "We believe that Roy’s body may have been in the freezer for a number of years.

"Speaking to people who knew him will help us establish not only his lifestyle and habits, but also when he was last seen.

"It doesn’t matter if it's been a long time since you knew him, or if you only knew him briefly, any information may be of real significance to our enquiries."
