MORGAN, a model with extensive inking all over her body, is covering up her tattoos to see herself without them for the first time in over 10 years. Morgan Joyce, who goes by the name ‘MJ’, started getting tattoos the day after her 18th birthday. She estimates she’s spent thousands of dollars on her tattoo collection and can’t imagine herself without them. MJ told Truly: “I definitely think I will have mixed feelings seeing myself without tattoos - I may not recognise myself in the mirror.” Although MJ has imagined herself without tattoos in the past, she admits it often gives her mixed feelings. “I know it’s something that’s never going to be a possibility for me,” she said. “So why even think about it?” It’s not only MJ who is nervous to see the results of the transformation but her mum, Janie, too, who hasn’t seen her daughter without tattoos in over 10 years. “One of the things I’m nervous about is how she will feel,” Janie says. “I might get a little emotional!” The transformation ended up being a positive experience for MJ, as it helped her see that it’s not only her tattoos that made her special and gave her confidence. “This has made me feel better,” MJ said. “Seeing myself without them - I still feel really pretty and still feel like me, tattoos are just a small part of my identity.”
