Former prosecutor Yoon Suk-yeol has emerged as the winner of South Korea’s bitterly contested presidential election. After a neck and neck race against ex-mayor and lawyer Lee Jae-myung, Yoon garnered 48.6 per cent of the votes with 95 per cent of the ballots counted on March 9, 2022.
