Six young people have been taken into custody after a 53-year-old man following an incident outside a supermarket in Redditch, it was reported late on Tuesday night.
West Mercia Police reported that around 7.20pm yesterday (Tuesday) officers received a report of a man having been injured outside an Asda store on Jinnah Road.
It said officers and West Midlands Ambulance Service attended and, despite their best efforts, the man from Redditch, to the south of Birmingham, . The force said that officers are currently supporting the man’s family "at this difficult time".
It added: "Following a search of the area, six young men have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody. Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.
"Anyone who was in the area of Asda around the time of the incident and saw anything that could help officers is asked to please call 101 or visit https://www.westmercia.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/.
"Alternatively, if you have information but don’t feel comfortable speaking to police, you can speak to the independent charity Crimestoppers. It is 100 per cent anonymous, they never ask your name and they cannot trace your call or IP address. You can contact them at https://orlo.uk/gVMLj or 0800 555111."
