Instagram Videos Now Have , Auto-Generated Captions.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced the new feature on March 1.
The captions will be on by default with
the option to turn them off.
According to an Instagram news release,
"select languages" will be available to choose from.
More languages will be
added in the coming months.
Instagram notes that the captions may not be perfect right away, as the AI needs to learn to help them improve.
In addition to providing accessibility
to the hearing impaired, .
it is possible the feature will keep users who aren't able to watch videos with sound on the platform longer.
