Hong Kong budget earmarks HK$170 billion in fight against Covid-19

Hong Kong's financial secretary Paul Chan Mo-po unveiled a slew of measures totalling an estimated HK$170 billion, aimed at helping the city contain a fifth wave of Covid-19 infections. Measures include HK$10,000 spending vouchers for residents and new immigrants aged 18 and above, tax breaks, loans and rent relief for businesses and industry investments to create jobs. The measures were announced on February 23, 2022, as the city recorded 8,674 new infections.
