Hong Kong announces universal Covid-19 testing, school holidays moved up, tightened restrictions

All Hong Kong residents will undergo compulsory testing for Covid-19 in March, as part of further tightening of pandemic restrictions unveiled by the city’s leader on February 22, 2022. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor also announced an early start to the school summer break, as well as more stringent social distancing measures, which will be in effect until April 20. This as the city saw a 64-fold increase in new infections, posting 6,211 daily new cases.
