When all of us get our house built, it starts with filling the foundation and to start it, in our religious traditions, first of all, Bhumi Pujan is done. In Bhoomi Bhujan, all the gods and goddesses are invoked and it is prayed that this work of building a house should be completed smoothly.

Vastu Purusha, mother earth, the Snake God and the five elements of nature, are worshipped during the bhumi puja.
