Mum has 'genius' hack using doorbells to call her kids for dinner without shouting

A mum-of-four has shared her "genius" life hack to call her children down for dinner - without constantly shouting.

Laura Cuniff, 30, shared the insight at the end of January on her social media account @inside_our_riverside.

Instead of calling her children down for dinner, she has installed doorbells inside her kitchen cupboard with each linked to a speaker in their bedrooms.

Laura said in the clip: "Tired of shouting at the kids? Try doorbells!

"Put one in each bedroom. No shouting."

Laura lives with her partner Adrian in Plymouth as a blended family - with four children - aged six, nine, ten and twelve - and the family often share insights into their home life.

The mum says she came up with the doorbell idea as her youngest 6-six-year old is autistic, non-verbal and has "various sensory processing difficulties" meaning he is sensitive to noise.

Laura adds: “That's why I came up with the doorbells so that I would not have to shout and hurt his ears.

"We were struggling to call the kids down without him grabbing his ears.

"We had an old doorbell from our previous house and we tried it out and it worked a treat so we put one in each of the three older children's rooms!

"It’s brilliant because the noise of the bell cuts through their headphones.

"It would also work for garages and sheds, or anywhere with a plug socket!"

Fellow parents have praised the hack as "genius".

The reel on Instagram currently has 2.6 million views and 108k likes.

Laura set up their page - @inside_our_riverside - at the beginning of 2022.

She said: "I was in a rut of being “mum” constantly and wanted something to focus on!

"It’s a dream to be able to social media full time, my followers always seem to be laughing with me at my stories so it does brighten my day up!"
