Queensland Health Minister Yvtette D'ath addressed the media on Wednesday.
Ms D'ath said the number of positive cases in five to 17-year-old children is increasing.
In school students, 1,905 new cases were recorded, up from 1,587 on Tuesday, which indicated that the virus was continuing to spread in schools.
