Royal health scare as Japanese Princess rushed to hospital with pneumonia after Covid case

Princess Yoko, 38, the younger daughter of the late Prince Tomohito of Mikasa, has developed pneumonia after catching Covid, it has been revealed. The royal was first admitted to a hospital inside the Imperial Palace, as shared last week by the Agency. However, she was later transferred to the University of Tokyo Hospital. Her sister, 40-year-old Princess Akiko, tested negative for coronavirus despite the pair having spent time together before Yoko's Covid diagnosis. Yoko is the first member of Japan's imperial family to catch Covid, despite the country currently experiencing its sixth wave of infections. Yoko and Akiko are the second cousins of Emperor Emeritus Akihito, who stepped down as ...
