Prince Andrew snubbed: More humiliation for Duke as birthday plan torn apart

To mark the Duke of York’s 62nd birthday, the Union flag was set to be flown at Stormont on February 19. But this decision has now been reversed and will only fly on July 1 to mark the Battle of Somme anniversary.  It comes after Belfast City Council made the same decision. Legislation covers flag flying over government buildings in Northern Ireland. Across the rest of the UK, flags are hoisted by order of the Queen or by government guidance.   A Government spokesman said: “The Government will imminently be updating the Designated Days List for 2022. “Since 2021, the default position in Great Britain is that the Union flag flies on UK Government buildings all year round unless another flag ...
