Bareilly Cantt assembly seat is considered to be very important in the politics of UP. This seat is said to be a stronghold of Congress. After independence, only Congress candidates have reached the assembly by winning the most number of times. From 1957 till now, 16 elections here Out of these, Congress has won seven times. SP has won twice. Once independent candidate and twice BJP has occupied this seat. This time here BJP's Sanjeev Agarwal, SP's There is a contest between Supriya Aron and BSP's Anil Kumar Valmiki.

यूपी की राजनीति में बरेली कैंट विधानसभा सीट को काफी अहम माना जाता है.इस सीट को कांग्रेस का गढ़ कहा जाता है.आजादी के बाद सबसे ज्यादा बार यहां से कांग्रेस प्रत्याशी ही जीत कर विधानसभा पहुंचे हैं.1957 से लेकर अब तक यहां 16 चुनाव हो चुके हैं.इनमें से सात बार कांग्रेस ने जीत हासिल की है.दो बार सपा का परचम लहरा चुका है.एक बार निर्दलीय प्रत्‍याशी तो दो बार बीजेपी ने इस सीट पर कब्‍जा किया है.इस बार यहां बीजेपी के संजीव अग्रवाल, सपा की सुप्रिया एरन और बीएसपी के अनिल कुमार वाल्मिकी के बीच मुकाबला है.
