January has seen a flurry of political activity in Uttar Pradesh especially within the BJP where 13 MLAs and 3 ministers, left to join the Samajwadi Party.

All except one, was either Dalit or from the OBC community.

At the same time, other parties including Chandrashekhar Azad's Azad Samaj Party and Asaduddin Owaisi-led third front, are also claiming the Dalit and the OBC vote.


If there is one thing that is clear in these elections, it is that the Dalit and the OBC votes hold the key to victory.
