Pippali is a herb. Four species of Pippali have been mentioned in Ayurveda, but in practice there are only two types of Pippali, small and big. The creeper of pippali spreads on the ground. It is fragrant. Its root is wood-like, hard, heavy and brown in color. When you break it, it is white in color from inside. Its taste is pungent.
पिप्पली एक जड़ी-बूटी है। आयुर्वेद में पिप्पली की चार प्रजातियों के बारे में बताया गया है, लेकिन व्यवहार में छोटी और बड़ी दो प्रकार की पिप्पली ही आती हैं। पिप्पली की लता भूमि पर फैलती है। यह सुगन्धित होती है। इसकी जड़ लकड़ी जैसी, कड़ी, भारी और शयामले रंग की होती है। जब आप इसे तोड़ेंगे तो यह अन्दर से सफेद रंग की होती है। इसका स्वाद तीखा होता है।
