The calls for Johnson's resignation come amid a scandal over gatherings the prime minister hosted while the rest of the U.K. remained under a strict pandemic lockdown. .
Johnson reportedly claims that the 2020 and 2021
parties, held at the prime minister's London home,
were not in violation of lockdown rules. .
On January 18, Johnson told Sky News that he was
unaware that the parties went against the same social
distancing protocols that his own government drafted. .
