Assam Brings In Restrictions For Unvaccinated Individuals Amid Rise In Covid-19 Cases

Unvaccinated people will not be allowed at public places in Assam. This comes amid rising cases of Covid-19 driven by the Omicron variant in the state. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, said that vaccination is not compulsory, but individuals who are not ready to take the shot must stay at home. Assam reported 8,072 Covid-19 cases on January 18. The state had recorded 6,982 new Covid-19 cases on January 17. Unvaccinated individuals will not be allowed to visit public places like restaurants, malls, markets and other locations, except hospitals.
