The Sotiganj scrap market of Meerut, one of India's largest scrap markets, has been completely closed. Sotiganj is infamous for buying and selling of stolen vehicles. More than 1,000 people working in more than 400 shops of Sotiganj are now facing a livelihood crisis. Local traders say those who defame the market are in jail, but those who are doing the right thing are also being dragged into it.
