Corona के Omicron variants के प्रसार को देखते हुए Allahabad High Court ने अगले साल होने वाले Uttar Pradesh elections को स्थगित करने की अपील Election Commission से की थी जिसके बाद आयोग ने कहा कि वह अगले हफ्ते स्थिति की समीक्षा के बाद उचित फैसला लेगा। बता दें कि Allahabad High Court ने Omicron variantsके बढ़ते खतरे को देखते हुए चुनाव आयोग से उत्तर प्रदेश में आगामी विधानसभा चुनावों को 2 महीने के लिए टालने का आग्रह किया था, इसके अलावा हाई कोर्ट ने सभी रैलियों पर भी प्रतिबंध लगाने का आग्रह किया था।
