On December 22, the United States authorized Pfizer's anti Covid-19 pill for high-risk people aged 12 and up. This comes amid the rising cases of Covid-19 with the Omicron variant. Paxlovid, which comprises two types of tablet, was granted an emergency use authorization by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The decision was taken after Paxlovid was shown in a clinical trial in order to reduce the risk of hospitalizations and deaths among at-risk people by 88 per cent, reported AFP. Pfizer Inc tweeted that this marks another historic milestone in the fight against Covid-19. Meanwhile, on December 22, Britain's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) approved use of the Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech for kids aged 5 to 11 years.
