On December 21, the controversial Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill, 2021 or the anti-conversion bill was tabled in the Karnataka assembly. The bill was tabled despite concerns raised by the opposition party members. Fresh protests were witnessed in Bengaluru where a group of organisations took to the streets expressing anger. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the bill was important in order to challenge attempts to change the cultural background through allurement in Karnataka.
