Durga Puja Gets UNESCO's Intangible Heritage Tag, PM Modi, Mamata Banerjee Express Happiness

On December 15, the UNESCO accorded heritage status to Kolkata's Durga Puja festival. UNESCO tweeted, “Durga puja in Kolkata has just been inscribed on the intangible heritage list. Congratulations India.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “A matter of great pride and joy for every Indian!” West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted, “Proud moment for Bengal!” The Ministry of Culture also extended its wishes to the residents of the city.
