Indian Air Force’s Group Captain Varun Singh succumbs to his injuries. He was the sole survivor of the IAF helicopter crash that led to the death of 13 others on-board, including Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat in Tamil Nadu's Coonoor on 8 December.

Group Captain Varun Singh was a pilot in a Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Squadron and had a close call in 2020. He was awarded the Shaurya Chakra by the president on Independence Day 2021, for saving an LCA Tejas fighter aircraft despite a mid-air emergency in 2020.
