Farm Law Repeal Bill Passed In Lok Sabha With Voice Vote In Four Minutes, Opposition Wanted Debate
  • 2 years ago
The Winter Session of Parliament began with the Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar tabelling the Farm Law Repeal Bill 2021. The Bill was passed with a voice vote within four minutes of it being tabled despite Opposition Party MPs demanding a debate on the repeal. They said that a repeal of the bill is preceded by a debate. Speaker Om Birla while calling for a voice vote said that a debate could only be held if the MPs kept quite and then called for the vote to be passed. This despite PM Narendra Modi saying just hours earlier that his government was looking forward to debates in the upcoming Parliament session.
