South Africa sets sights on innovative mRNA jab to tackle vaccine inequity

The identification of a concerning new Covid-19 variant has put even more pressure on South Africa, which is researching the development of a continent-grown Messenger RNA vaccine -- the most effective so far in combatting the virus. It would be a tough, resilient vaccine that would not need to be stored all the time at ultra-cold temperatures -- a hefty requirement in some areas with regular power cuts.
