SAN ANTONIO, TX -- Celtics Head Coach Ime Udoka spoke to the media at Friday's shootaround ahead of Boston's game with the San Antonio Spurs tonight.
Ime Udoka said he learned the foundations of basketball from Gregg Popovich. Even back to his playing days, he and Pop felt similar ways about things, which attracted him to the Spurs.
"He always stresses the relationship part of it."
Udoka on foundation of basketball: "Unselfish team play ... it's really hard to win at a high level without that ... he took it back to almost elementary level drills to reinforce habits."
Ime on breaking from ISO habits: "Daily reinforcing of those habits ... how easy it can be and how difficult we can have it, it's not going to happen overnight ... so far we've done (the right play) for the most part, other than being stagnant at times."
