China expands 5G network to over 1.15 million base stations, more than rest of the world combined

China has taken the lead in the development of global 5G networks, with over 1.15 million base stations built so far that can use the fifth-generation mobile telecommunications technology. The nation now is home to over 70 per cent of the world’s total 5G capability, according to figures released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on November 18, 2021.
