Police in Byron Bay assure the community they were prepared for an outbreak

The police have said they and NSW Health have made a coordinated response in regards to the detection of a positive COVID case in a Byron Bay backpackers. The premises will be in lockdown, with 80 people inside, vaccination and close contact teams are at the hostel.
